“In the time of trouble, He will hide me in His pavilion.” (Ps. 27:5 NKJV)
The Pavilion is our coffee shop ministry, yet it is so much more than a coffee shop. In fact, everything is free … the coffee, the bagels… everything. You see, this is not a business where we make money, it is a place of safety and refuge where we love on our friends in the West Side.
We live and minister in an impoverished, broken neighborhood that is ruled by the gods of poverty and apathy. While our hearts break for lost, we also have a deep love for our neighbors here. This is at the heart of the Pavilion and every day at the Pavilion there is a collision of heaven and earth as godly men and women embrace the marginalized as Jesus did.
With just a few full-time staff, the Pavilion is largely operated with a small army of selfless, Jesus-loving volunteers that give of their time and energy to love those in our neighborhood and make Jesus known.
Our desire is that the Pavilion would be not only a resting place for the weary, but a launching pad into a new life. We want the Pavilion to be more than a landing-zone, but rather a bridge… a bridge from the streets of the West Side to full life in Jesus.
If you are in the neighborhood, come on by.
The Pavilion is open noon-5 pm Monday-Friday and is located at 1056 Bridge Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
